- As per UNESCO, intangible cultural heritage includes oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals etc.
- 3 criteria for ICHL –
- Entity recognized by communities, groups and, individuals as part of their cultural heritage
- Be transmitted from generation to generation & be constantly recreated by communities
- Provide them with a sense of identity and continuity.
UNESCO’s Convention for Safeguarding the Intangible Heritage:
- Adopted in 2003 and entered into force in 2006.
